Julia receives a thank you from a patient

A patient thanked Julia for her quality care during a scary time.

The patient wrote, “My experience with Julia was exceptional. She was my technologist during a routine mammogram that came back with abnormal results. I immediately went into panic mode and started imagining the worst. At my second mammogram, Julia probably sensed my fear. She clearly and calmly went over my results and explained what actions might need to be taken. She was great, and knowing she would be present during my biopsy gave me so much peace. In chatting with her, I know that she is a traveler. I wish she was able to stay longer, as it is comforting to know that such a qualified healthcare provider is in our area. I cannot say enough nice things about Julia! She has made this experience as pleasant as it possibly could be.”

Julia, your patients appreciate your quality care, and so do we! Keep up the great work!

Collin is nominated for a DAISY Award

A patient’s family member nominated Collin for a DAISY Award for his compassionate care.

The family member said, “Collin took amazing care of my father in the critical care unit. My father had been disgruntled and stressed in his situation, having been on a ventilator with a trach. Collin was so patient and understanding and tried his best to communicate with him during this difficult time. He even had my father trying to crack jokes, which was a first during his month-long stay in various ICU units. Collin was also great with our family, answering any questions and listening to requests. It is clear to see that he truly cares about his patients.”

Collin, your quality care means the world to your patients and their families. Congratulations on the DAISY Award nomination!

Matthew is praised for his outstanding care

Matthew received a personal shout-out from his team for providing outstanding care and advocacy for a patient in a language gap situation.

One team member wrote, “Matthew advocated strongly for a patient with rising troponins. The patient’s primary language was Tagalog, but his care plan was being explained in English. Matthew urged the provider to use the interpreter tablet and persisted in advocating for his patient and the use of Tagalog to ensure the patient understood the gravity of his test results. When the cardiology team came to admit the patient, they used the interpreter on Matthew’s recommendation. The patient began crying because he had not fully understood that he was having cardiac problems and had many questions for the doctors. I’m proud to work with strong, smart, compassionate nurses like Matthew who take the extra steps to advocate for their patients and care for them how we would all hope that our loved ones would be cared for.”

Matthew, thank you for ensuring your patients get the quality care they need. Your team appreciate you, and so do we!

Andria is nominated for a Heart of Gold Award

Andria was nominated for the Heart of Gold Award at her facility!

The nomination wrote, “Andria’s warmth, positive energy and wealth of experience have been wonderful additions to our team. She was recently involved in a code event during which she excelled at maintaining a calm demeanor, moving quickly and efficiently, communicating effectively, offering suggestions, recognizing patient changes and overall ensuring the code ran smoothly from the bedside nurse role. More specifically, I would like to highlight her support of other junior nurses. During the hot debrief event, she kindly reflected on her prior experiences and shared how she deals with and copes with stressful situations at work. Her openness, genuine appreciation and reflection on the difficulties of this job were deeply appreciated. Additionally, her ability to find reward and strength in returning to work and continuing to build her skills is truly admired. Andria embodies all the qualities of the Heart of Gold Award.”

Congratulations on the nomination, Andria! You are an example to those around you. Your team appreciates you, and so do we!

Melissa receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s family member nominated Melissa for a DAISY Award for her patient care and genuine attitude!

The family member wrote, “Melissa is an angel. My mom was recently in the hospital. All the staff, the doctors, surgeons and PCTs — all of them — were wonderful, but Melissa went the extra mile to make my mom feel special and attended to. This wasn’t the first time my mom had been in that hospital or on that specific floor. Melissa remembered her from last year and spoke to her like a friend. She also took the time to speak with me about some caregiving techniques for my mom once she’s back home. It’s been said that nurses are angels with strong stomachs. Melissa is absolutely the personification of that statement. She does her work and calling with joy and a genuine attitude of care that makes a huge difference. Thank you for the opportunity to recommend her.”

Way to go, Melissa! Your quality care makes a difference in the lives of your patients and their families. Congrats on the nomination! ...

Rebekah is praised for her care

Rebekah was complimented by a doctor she worked with, who said, “Thank you for your insights and compassion. I want to let you know that I appreciate the care you provide to your patients.”

A member of Rebekah’s team further explained, “Rebekah quickly responded to the distress of a patient on comfort care and coordinated with the care team to address their pain and air hunger. Thanks to her, the patient was able to calm down and relax. Within the hour, Rebekah called for assistance in the room as the patient began to show signs of deterioration. This patient was a nurse, and Rebekah’s call for help ensured that one of our peers was allowed to pass not only in comfort but with a handful of nurses at her bedside with her. She truly was a shining example of what we strive to provide for our patients. I’m not surprised at all that the doctor took the time to compliment her care and dedication to her patients.”

Congratulations on the well-deserved praise, Rebekah! Your compassionate care makes a difference for your patients and for your team. Keep up to good work!

Cody is given the Sunflower Award at his facility

Cody was given a Sunflower Award at his facility after receiving recognition for his warm and personal care from a patient’s family member.

The family member said, “My husband is currently in the hospital recovering from major surgery. It has been a stressful time for our family. The surgery was 15 hours long, and my husband was in the surgical ICU for a few days. After he transferred to his new room, we met Cody. His sense of humor and positive attitude were amazing and instantly lifted my husband’s spirits! He was also very compassionate and personable, and he anticipated my husband’s needs. He was never too busy to visit with us and gave encouragement when it was needed and appreciated the most. Cody treated us like a good friend or even family. He did everything required medically, but did so much more for our emotional well-being.”

Congratulations on the Sunflower Award, Cody! Thank you for your quality care. Keep up the good work!

Jamesha wins her facility’s Sunflower Award

Jamesha received her facility’s Sunflower Award after receiving a heartfelt shout-out from a patient’s family member.

The family member wrote, “Mesha was a ray of sunshine every time she walked into my mom’s room. Her bright smile and cheery attitude instantly made her smile, even on the tough days. When my mom needed help, Mesha had patience and care every time. She ‘rescued’ her when she needed to get off the toilet and was her hero for that. Under Mesha’s care, my mom said they became lifelong friends. Mesha cared so much for her that she gave her a call on the day she passed, and Mom just lit up. She even wanted to hold on and see Mesha again one last time. The care and compassion Mesha delivered was above and beyond, and just so special. Mesha even came and spent her day off with her and was there for her last breath. The care, love and support was outstanding.”

Thank you for your amazing care and work, Jamesha. Congratulations on the Sunflower Award!
