Alyssa gets a shout-out from a team member

Alyssa received a special shout-out from a team member for her excellent care.

The team member says, “Alyssa comes to work willing to help and has a great attitude. She also consistently shows initiative and an ability to work exceptionally well as part of our team. One Sunday night, she showed outstanding ability and willingness to take action by putting her (gloved) hands on an HIV-positive patient to help them stop bleeding. I feel so fortunate we had Alyssa here that night to help in that unique, critical emergency event. She consistently offered to help, asked what needed to be done and took appropriate action on any directive. We couldn’t have done what we did as fast as we did without her. I feel truly fortunate to have nurses like Alyssa during emergency events. Thank you for the opportunity to work with Alyssa, we are lucky to have her as a traveler on our team!”

Alyssa, your team appreciates your quality care and willingness to take action, and so do we! Keep up the great work!

Florence is nominated for a DAISY Award

A patient has nominated Florence for a DAISY Award for the impact she made during her stay and the empathy she shared.

The patient said, “Florence came to me when I was at the lowest point I have ever been. I came to the hospital feeling hopeless, helpless and mortified. She sat with me for what felt like hours. She talked to me about everything, including what I was going through, and brought me a feeling of peace. She made me laugh and made me smile. We talked about the life that lies ahead, and I felt a new sense of gratitude. She helped me stop and think about what I had gone through and made me realize that I am not alone in this. No matter how afraid I am, there is always someone to listen. I have never nominated anyone for this award, but I cannot leave without mentioning what meeting Florence has meant to me. She is a special person, and I believe with my whole heart that I was brought here to meet her as a gift — a gift of life. My life. For my family. For me. Life is a precious gift, and Florence helped remind me that we are all going through something, and I’m going to keep going. Thank you.”

Florence, your quality care makes all the difference in the lives of your patients. Congratulations on the nomination. Keep up the great work!

Her compassion and unwavering support left an indelible mark on my heart. Her kindness and professionalism profoundly impacted my journey through motherhood. Shaunta is nominated for a DAISY Award

A patient nominated Shaunta for a DAISY Award and praised her for her compassion, knowledge and communication skills.

The patient wrote, “Shaunta went above and beyond her nursing duties to make me and my family feel comfortable during the labor and delivery of my son. From our very first introduction through our final farewell, she was fantastic. Her level of compassion is top-tier, and her communication skills are unmatched. She kept us informed and educated about every step of our delivery journey. She made sure I and each member of my family was comfortable during the long labor process, and in my most vulnerable moments, she made me feel comfortable in a way I never thought possible. Her knowledge and experience could not be more apparent in every decision. She was so organized, every decision was well thought out and made with my best care in mind, and she had all the tips and tricks to truly elevate what could have been a very miserable process. She brought things to the delivery that even the doctor said were better than what the hospital used and gave her credit for single-handedly improving my delivery process. She is a forward thinker. She is skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate and an all-around fantastic nurse. She is a major reason why my labor and delivery journey was so fantastic, and I mean that wholeheartedly. Even my family noticed and commented on how amazing she was. Few women say that they enjoyed the labor and delivery process, but because of Shaunta, I am an outlier. I genuinely look back on my time in the hospital and have a full heart with positive memories because of her. If she isn’t a DAISY Award-worthy recipient, I’m not sure who is.”

Congratulations on the glowing nomination, Shaunta! Your patients appreciate your quality care and compassion. Keep it up! ...

Max is thanked by a grateful Aya employee

Max, an Aya traveler, treated an Aya corporate employee who had glowing things to say about the experience!

The Aya employee said, “Going into getting my MRI, I was really nervous. I didn’t know what to expect since it was my first time. On top of that, I am at high risk for long COVID and was worried there would be issues with my mask. I was given no issues by Max. In fact, he was not phased by it. I was so pleasantly surprised to have an Aya traveler taking care of me! He was really comforting and checked in on me throughout the MRI. He put me at ease with the casual conversations we had about the difference in healthcare in California and Florida and how much we love SoCal! The MRI was over before I even knew it. I was so relaxed, I took a much-needed nap! I work in the Travel Experience department and I talk to Aya travelers all day so it was really wonderful to see Max in action and his amazing bedside manner. Thank you, Max, for making my first MRI an exceptional experience!”

Thank you for your quality care, Max! Your patients appreciate it, and so do we. Keep up the great work!

JD is recognized by a coworker

A coworker recognized JD for his willingness to lend a helping hand.

They wrote, “Yesterday during our Davinci case, JD went to great lengths to coordinate with the university to get us the staple loads we needed for a complex case we were doing. Soon after, my PT began to code. JD stayed over an hour after his shift ended to help in the room and ensure we had the extra hands we needed. He did compressions well, so much so that the anesthesiologist was impressed. The case was complex and a little chaotic at times, and it would not have gone as well as it did without JD’s help. I so appreciate him and his willingness to lend a hand and jump right in. He is a very valuable member of our team!”

Your team appreciates your hard work and commitment, JD, and so do we! Congrats! ...

Kimber is praised by a patient’s family member

A patient’s family member praised Kimber for her compassionate care and professionalism.

They wrote, “I brought my mother to the ER early Sunday morning, and Kimber was her nurse. In all the years of taking my mother to doctors and even being in the ER once or twice, we have never encountered a nurse as good as Kimber. She was kind, compassionate, professional and funny.  Whenever my mother had a very bad episode, Kimber came right in and cleaned her and any mess always with a joke and a smile and such a caring attitude. Hospitals need more nurses like Kimber. She made a difficult time bearable.”

Kimber, your quality care makes a huge difference for your patients and their families. Keep up the great work!

Emma receives a patient’s heartfelt thank-you

A patient wrote a letter of sincere appreciation for Emma’s persistent excellence in care.

The patient wrote, “Emma was nurturing. She kept me calm by her demeanor and was easy to communicate with. She took the time to help me manage the pain I was in and calmed me with her patience and extreme encouragement. After 24 hours, I had improved the way I got out of bed just by having her confidence. Emma validated how capable I was in doing things and standing on my own two feet after the amputation of two toes. Emma is a rare person. She is honest, intuitive, very caring and intelligent. She helped me heal monumentally in the beginning stages of my journey. She blessed me physically, emotionally and spiritually. She is an awesome soul who deserves all the flowers. I encourage her to take heart and keep striving because she significantly impacted my life and my family. Her personality and her way of caring for me was inspirational. If I could have her as a part of my care team every time I’m in the hospital that would be phenomenal!”

Emma, the way you care for your patients truly makes a difference in their lives. Your team is proud of you, and so are we! Keep up the good work!
