A patient praises Sky for her outstanding professionalism

Sky Kim received feedback from a patient who acknowledged her outstanding professionalism.

The patient said, “I had an outstanding nurse. Sky was super, super nice and went above and beyond. Sky was taking care of another patient who was a little hateful and mouthy, but she never once showed any aggravation toward that patient, was so polite when trying to assist them and never let on that the patient bothered her at all. It really touched me to see how Sky handled herself.”

The Aya team is very proud of you Sky! Thank you for your outstanding professionalism!

Drew is nominated for a DAISY Award

A colleague nominated Drew for a DAISY Award for her personable and top-notch bedside manner and the effect it has on patients.

The colleague wrote, “Drew provides exceptional care for her patients. All the small things add up to great patient experiences and great outcomes. I remember she told me about an elderly patient who was not friendly or inviting to anyone else on the floor, but he took an exception to her. By the time the weekend was over, he actually made his family bring homemade spaghetti and meatballs. No one on the unit could understand why his behavior changed so drastically from needing to call ‘code greens’ to smiling and laughing in the room. It all boiled down to Drew’s demeanor. She’s smart, gifted, talented and 100% deserving of recognition. She’s the kind of nurse family members brag and boast about ‘how excellent their care was.’ I’m proud to work with her and to call her my friend.”

Great praise for a great nurse, Drew. Congrats on the DAISY Award nomination!

Christopher receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient’s mother nominated Christopher for a DAISY Award for the positive impact he had on her son and the trajectory of his care.

The mother wrote, “My 1-year-old son was admitted to the hospital, which we have become very familiar with over the past 9 months since he was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1. This time, I knew things were different. My son declined rapidly, and we were faced with many tough discussions and decisions. We met Chris two weeks into my son’s admission, and my son was immediately drawn to him. After all the tests and procedures, to say he was skeptical to see a new face would be an understatement, but never once did that happen with Chris. My son’s face lit up every time Chris stepped into the room, and a sense of relief came over him. Chris not only gave my son a sense of peace but me and my husband as well. He made sure we understood what was happening, answered our questions and put our worried parent hearts at ease. Chris’ bedside knowledge was an asset numerous times, and I feel he was a key factor in my son’s recovery. He is not only a healthcare provider but an amazing human being! He constantly checked in on me, my husband and our three other sons. He understands how my son’s illness not only affects him but our entire family as a whole.”

Congrats on the well-deserved nomination, Christopher! Keep up the good work.

Queenie is praised by a colleague

A colleague praised Queenie for her skillset and credited her for making their work experience enjoyable.

The colleague said, “I’ve been working at the facility for a month, and I have to say the nicest nurse I’ve met has been another Aya traveler, Queenie! She is so chill and makes everyone feel so valued — coworkers and patients alike! I have specifically heard, on three separate occasions, other nurses say, ‘If I’m ever in the hospital, I want Queenie to be my nurse!’ She always asks if you need help and always looks so calm and collected — even on a busy day! I think a nurse like her should be recognized for being so kind-hearted and welcoming. Thanks to her, my assignment is off to a great start! Kudos to you, Queenie, for being an authentic, wonderful nurse and most of all a kind person!”

Good job, Queenie! Your team admires your hard work and positivity, and so do we.
