Sandy receives a DAISY Award

Sandy won a DAISY award after a patient nominated her after being brightened by Sandy’s engaging care!

The patient wrote, “Sandy was my nurse for multiple days, which would have seemed like so much longer if not for her incredibly engaging care. Beyond her exceptional medical attitude and personality, she also engaged with her patients through personal and downright interesting conversations, not to mention her relatable yet sophisticated sense of humor. With her bright personality, she could light up the room atmosphere just by entering — trust me, I found out through personal experience. Sandy is extremely go-to when it comes to caring for patients. She was so excited to switch my IV from my inner elbow to my wrist just so I was as comfortable as possible in an overwhelming hospital environment. She reassured me she would always bring my medication on time because she hated the idea of someone laying in bed hurting or being nauseous when she knew she could do something about it. Her professionalism and compassion go above and beyond and is an incredible inspiration. So many people learn from her example — I know I sure have. She deserves the best for her work and compassion in the medical field! Everyone that has experienced her care is extremely lucky whether they know it or not!”

Congratulations on the award, Sandy! Keep up the good work!

The colleague said, “I happened to be outside when I witnessed Nicole’s interaction with a patient. She grabbed a wheelchair for a man who stopped before the front door due to chest pain. He was having a heart attack and was up to the Cath Lab within fifteen minutes of arrival. Without her attention, who knows what would have happened to that man.”

Sarah receives a DAISY Award nomination

A patient nominated Sarah for a DAISY Award for her compassionate and thoughtful care during a frightening experience.

The patient said, “I was recently hospitalized due to a FIB event. I had never experienced this before and was frightened, short of breath and unsure if I would ever recover. The team of nurses in the ICU treated me with great care and warmth. Sarah really stood out. She not only expressed interest in taking care of my physical well-being but also my spiritual well-being. She recognized I was anxious about my symptoms and offered kind advice. She studied my condition, brought me her medical book and a highlighter and made suggestions with the physician’s approval on how I could improve my sleep and heart health. While waiting for my heart to get back into rhythm, Sarah calmed me with her words. She checked on me, chatted with me and provided amazing care. My heart went back into rhythm, and she came into my room to cheer with me. Sarah thoughtfully reviewed my discharge papers with me and ensured I understood the next steps. She treated me like a close friend. Although I hope not to be admitted to the ICU again, I know if Sarah were there, I would be in great hands.”

Congratulations, Sarah! Your compassionate care makes all the difference in your patients’ lives.
