Aya Staffs Expedited EMR Conversion
When a not-for-profit medical system that serves nearly 400,000 residents in Georgia asked Aya Healthcare to help staff their electronic medical record (EMR) conversion, they estimated the project timeline to be a six-week initial rolling implementation. However, to ensure continued patient care coverage, they tightened the timeline to less than four weeks.
Aya staffed over 150 travel nurses in the four-week timeframe. The medical center’s administration received complimentary access to all traveler documentation through Aya Connect. As part of the Aya MSP, the Aya Clinical Services team conducted in-depth unit assessments and clinical interviews, reducing the time to offer and the number of clinical cancellations, while increasing retention and extension rates. In parallel, the Aya Partner Network was activated to share open needs with more than 140 vetted partner agencies and secure candidates more quickly.
As a result of Aya’s Joint Commission certified, stringent travel nurse staffing process and commitment to excellence, the medical center’s clinical cancellations are well below industry standards and over 16% of the EMR conversion travelers signed extended assignment contracts in order to provide ongoing care for their facilities. Aya travelers also supported the opening of a new oncology unit and new temporary med surg overflow unit.
“It’s been refreshing to work with Aya Healthcare, starting with our EMR conversion,” said the medical center’s HR Business Partner and Nurse Recruiter. “It was reassuring to know we had an entire team dedicated to the success of our conversion and that our point of contact was readily available any time we needed him throughout the process.”
